Oude Bosweg/Elburgerweg, Dronten (Torenbosje)

Before 1960 and in 1963, some remains of a De Havilland Mosquito, a twin-engined fighter-bomber, were recovered from this location. Rumors circulated about this aircraft that it would have been painted in German colours. It has also been misidentified as Mosquito ML979 for years. Unfortunately, the identity of the aircraft found here has never been established, except that it certainly belonged to the Royal Air Force. The ML979 has been lost at the current Vossemeerdijk between Dronten and Kampen. See also the information at post 3.
