The Kite Monument stands in front of the 'House of the Municipality of Dronten'. The propeller is part of the Lancaster bomber ED 357 of the 12th squadron. This aircraft was stationed at the English base Wickenby. The natural stone slabs on the ground represent the contours of eastern and southern Flevoland and the municipality of Dronten. The memorial was erected and unveiled in 1965 in memory of all Allied aircrew. Since that year, the annual Remembrance Day has been held at this monument on 4 May.
