On 30 June 1941, two German night fighters of the II. Gruppe of Nachtjagdgeschwader 1 above the IJsselmeer. They hit each other, after which one of them, a twin-engined Messerschmitt Bf 110 with Work number 3273, crashed at this location.
Both crew members managed to leave the aircraft in time with their parachutes and were quickly rescued. The wreckage of the aircraft was cleared in the 1960s.
